New Families, Inc.

About Us

New Families, Inc. is a Foster Family Agency, founded in May, 1999 by Janet Parske. Ms. Parske has been a strong advocate for children for over 20 years. New Families in conjunction with our certified foster families, provides care for abused, neglected and troubled children.

Our mission is to offer homes where children feel safe, nurtured and loved, giving them an optimum opportunity for healing, growth and redirection in their lives.

We currently provide care for children from infancy to 18 years of age. In our wonderful, compassionate foster homes the children begin healing and living the life of a “normal” child. As an Agency, our focus is on supporting our foster families in providing consistent, loving and nurturing care for the children entrusted to us.  The families that we work with are experienced and well trained foster parents who work in conjunction with the New Families Social Workers to provide the structure and services for the children to thrive. Our Agency offers ongoing training and on the spot coaching for foster parents, in handling the issues that might arise with children in their care.

The children often come from homes where they have experienced neglect, mental, sexual and/or physical abuse. There may have been family gang involvement as well as drug and alcohol use. As a result of these experiences, the children may exhibit (initially) challenging behaviors. Our Agency actively works with the foster parents in finding effective ways of redirecting and eliminating these behaviors, assisting the child to overcome these difficulties. Our focus is on the safety and well being of the children and of our foster families.

Our primary office is located in Felton, California with an additional office in Sacramento, California. We provide care for children from Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito, Sacramento, Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties.

While we may sound like a large Agency, we currently work with 22 families in Santa Cruz who care for 36 children. In Sacramento we have 18 families caring for 31 children. These generous people take children into their homes and provide them with a stable, safe and loving environment until they can return to a safe birth home, are adopted or grow up. These placements can last from a few months to the rest of the children’s growing up lives.
