Social Worker

Status: Full-time, exempt
Reports to: Social Work Supervisor
Location: Santa Cruz County & Monterey County
Travel Required: Yes

Role and Responsibilities
Evaluation and assessment of a child for placement and continued placement in a resource approved home
• Development and updating of child’s Needs and Services plan
• Writing quarterly reports, Termination reports, monthly child and home visit documentation
• Completion and maintenance of required documentation for child and resource family
• Supervision of the placement of the child including direct contact with the child and resource parent
• Provision of support services to resource families assigned to the social worker
• Responsible for maintaining a monthly budget for Intensive Services Foster Care children
• Attend meetings for child, such as Child and Family Team meetings, Individualized eduation program meetings, medical appointments, court meetings, etc.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• A Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling, Child Psychology, Child Development, Counseling Psychology, or Social Psychology
• Bilingual - English/Spanish
• 2-3 years experience in a Child Welfare setting working with foster youth and families
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook
• Reliable transportation, automobile insurance, clean driving record
• Live Scan background check clearance
• Minimum 40 hours of training that includes:
• Trauma
• Behavioral De-Escalation Techniques
• Implementing Individual Needs and Service Plans for Children
• Infant, Child, and Adult CPR & First Aid

Preferred Skills
Working knowledge of Kaleidacare / Solutions 7 software

Social Work Aide

Status: Regular, Part-time
Reports to: Social Work Supervisor
Location: Santa Cruz County, Primarily working in Monterey County

Position Overview
The Social Work Aide position provides children age’s birth to 21 direct support and services and works as part of a child’s team

General Responsibilities
• Assist social worker with support services for foster children
• Provide transportation as needed to activities or duties related to children
• Plan productive and educational activities with the children
• Help with case notes and annual reports
• Implement weekly goals for the children
• Attend meetings as necessary
• Strong conflict resolution and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Minimum of BS and 6 months experience
- or -
Minimum of AS and one year experience
- or -
Direct client supervision with minimum of 2 years experience, demonstrating a combination of education and experience that meets the specific needs of the target population
• Minimum of 40 hours of training that includes:
- Trauma, Behavioral De-escalation Techniques
- Implementing individual needs and service plans for children and infants
- Child and Adult CPR & First Aid (The required 40 hours of training can be taken during the onboarding process)
• Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years and a clean driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have an automobile and current automobile insurance
• High school graduate or GED. Bachelor’s level student preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish is preferred
• Experience working with children
• Must have a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong desire for continued growth and learning
